# Themes

Themes control what the chat window looks like: colours, logo, corners and borders. Managed under **AI assistants → Themes**, and applied to an assistant with the **Theme** setting.

A theme matters most for an assistant [embedded on a website](/en/for-administrators/assistants/preview-and-embedding.md), where it should look like part of your site rather than a bolted-on widget.

## The themes overview

Every theme appears as a card with a live miniature of the chat window, so you can see the effect without opening it. Themes marked with a shield are standard themes provided with the platform: you can preview them and apply them, but not change them.

Use **Create theme** to make your own.

## Creating or editing a theme

A theme has a **Name** and a **Description**, then four groups of settings. A live preview beside the form updates as you change anything.

### Background and border colours

| Setting | What it colours |
| ------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Header** | The bar at the top of the chat window. |
| **Chat** | The conversation area behind the messages. |
| **Footer & quick action** | The area around the message box and the suggested question cards. |
| **Initials** | The circle behind a user's initials. |
| **Border** | The outline around the chat window. |

### Text colours

| Setting | What it colours |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Header** | Text in the top bar. Must contrast with the header background. |
| **Chat** | The message text. |
| **Quick action** | Text on the suggested question cards. |
| **Initials** | The letters inside the initials circle. |

{% hint style="warning" %}
Check contrast, not just brand match. Light grey text on a white background looks elegant in a mock-up and is unreadable for a lot of people. Header text in particular is easy to get wrong. Dark text on a dark header disappears.
{% endhint %}

### Images

| Setting | What it does |
| -------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Logo** | Shown inside the chat window. |
| **Corner logo for "corner chat" mode** | The icon on the launcher button when the assistant sits in the corner of a website. |

Use a transparent PNG so the logo sits properly on your header colour.

### Style

| Setting | Options |
| -------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Rounded corners** | **None**, **Small**, **Medium**, **Large**. Medium is the default. |
| **Show a border around the assistant** | On or off. |
| **Show a shadow around the assistant** | On or off. |

For a widget floating over a website, a border or a shadow helps separate it from the page. For a full-page embed inside your own layout, both usually look better off.

## Applying a theme

Themes are not applied from this screen. Open the assistant, go to **Settings**, and pick the theme in the **Theme** field under **General**.

One theme can be used by any number of assistants, which is the point: build one theme that matches your brand and reuse it everywhere.

## Deleting a theme

**Delete theme** appears when editing a theme you created. Standard themes cannot be deleted. Check first that no assistant is still using it.
