# Activity report

How much the platform is being used, and by whom. Found under **Reports → Activity**.

## Choosing what you are looking at

A toolbar at the top of both reports controls the scope.

| Control | What it does |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Organisation filter | Where you manage child organisations, look at one of them instead of your own. |
| Period | **This week** through **Last year**, or **Custom range** with your own dates. |
| Granularity | Whether the chart buckets by **Weekly**, **Monthly**, **Quarterly** or **Yearly**. |

If you choose a period that starts before your organisation existed, a note says so, useful when a chart looks emptier than expected.

## The summary cards

| Card | What it counts |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **User sessions** | Conversations started in the period. |
| **User messages** | Messages people sent within those conversations. |
| **Toolbox usage** | AI Toolbox elements run. |
| **User engagement** | Active users against inactive ones. Active means at least one session or other action in the period. |

**User engagement** is the number to watch. Total sessions can look healthy while being driven by five enthusiasts. Adoption is the ratio of active to inactive.

## The chart

Choose a metric (**AI Assistant sessions**, **AI Assistant messages** or **AI Toolbox usage**) and the chart plots it over the period at your chosen granularity.

A trend line needs at least two periods with data, so a fresh organisation on a short range will show nothing.

## Filters

The **Filters** dropdown narrows the whole report:

* **Filter by assistant**: one assistant only.
* **Filter by user**: one person only.
* **Filter by toolbox element**: one element only, when looking at Toolbox usage.

**Clear filters** resets them.

## The breakdown table

Below the chart, a table breaks the selected metric down **Per user**, **Per assistant** or **Per toolbox element**. **Load more** extends it.

Rows can show *Unknown user* or *Anonymous users*, which is normal: conversations through an assistant embedded on a public website have no signed-in person behind them.

## Reading it usefully

**Which assistants earn their keep.** Break sessions down per assistant. An assistant with almost no use either is not needed, or nobody knows it exists. Both are worth knowing, and they need different responses.

**Whether adoption is real.** Watch active users over successive months. Flat or falling after launch usually means the platform is not solving a problem people actually have, or that nobody told them about it.

**Where to spend effort.** The most-used assistant is where an improvement pays back most.

**Sessions against messages.** Many sessions with very few messages each suggests people try once and give up. Look at [session logs](/en/for-administrators/assistants/session-logs.md) to find out why.

{% hint style="info" %}
This report can be switched off for an organisation. If the tab is missing, it has been disabled. For a child organisation, that is done by its parent. Your account manager can arrange a change.
