# Your preferences

Your name, photo, language and where you land. Found under your name at the bottom of the menu, then **Preferences**.

Everyone can open this screen. Nothing here needs special rights, and nothing here affects anyone else.

## Account

| Setting                  | What it does                                                                     |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Profile photo**        | Select the avatar to upload one. Hovering an existing photo offers to remove it. |
| **Email**                | Your address. Shown for reference; it cannot be changed here.                    |
| **Display name**         | The name colleagues see.                                                         |
| **Default organization** | Which organisation you land in. Only appears if you belong to more than one.     |

To change your e-mail address, ask your administrator.

## Appearance

**Navigation width** controls the menu:

| Option     | What it does                                          |
| ---------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| **Auto**   | Adapts to the space available.                        |
| **Narrow** | Always collapsed.                                     |
| **Manual** | Adds a button so you collapse and expand it yourself. |

**Narrow** or **Manual** is worth trying on a smaller screen: the menu takes real space away from the conversation.

## Language

Choose the language of the interface. It changes immediately.

This changes menus, buttons and labels. It does not by itself change the language an assistant replies in. Assistants generally reply in the language you write in. To fix that permanently, set a [personal instruction](/en/for-everyone/assistants/personalising.md) such as *"Always answer in Dutch."*

## Default landing page

Which page opens when you sign in: **Home**, **Inbox**, **Assistants** or **AI Toolbox**. Only pages you have access to are offered.

If you spend all day in one place, set it here. It saves a click every single day.

## Saving

Changes are saved when you choose **Save**, and confirmed with a short message. The profile photo saves as soon as you upload it.
