# Am I an administrator?

Which half of this documentation you need.

## The quick test

Look at the menu on the left of the platform. If you can see **Organization management** or **User management**, you have administrator rights of some kind.

If you cannot, you are a user. Everything you need is in [For everyone](/en/for-everyone/users.md), and nothing in it will send you to a screen you cannot open.

## What "administrator" means here

There is no single administrator switch. Rights are granted in areas, so two people who both call themselves administrators may be able to do quite different things.

You might be able to build assistants but not manage users. You might manage users but not the knowledge base. The menu is the honest answer: it only shows what you can actually reach.

## Which section to read

[**For everyone**](/en/for-everyone/users.md) covers using the platform: chatting with assistants, running Toolbox elements, working in the Inbox, projects, preferences. Everyone should read this, administrators included.

[**For administrators**](/en/for-administrators/admins.md) covers building and configuring: assistants, knowledge, users and rights, integrations, reporting.

If you are an administrator, read the user section first. You cannot build a good assistant without understanding what using one feels like.

## Sharing this documentation

The user section deliberately contains nothing admin-only. It is safe to send to your whole organisation without anyone becoming confused by screens they cannot open.

Where users need something only an administrator can do, that section tells them to ask their administrator, and [Getting help](/en/for-everyone/getting-help.md) explains how to do that usefully.

## If a screen described here is missing

Two possible reasons, and neither is a fault:

1. **Your rights.** Your administrator decides what you can reach. See [Users and access](/en/for-administrators/access.md) if you are an administrator, or ask yours if you are not.
2. **Your plan.** Not every organisation has every feature. Your account manager can say what yours includes.

## Becoming an administrator

Administrator rights are granted by an existing administrator, by adding you to the right user group. If you need them, ask whoever currently administers the platform for your organisation.
