# Welcome

This is the user documentation for the Artific AI platform. It explains what the platform does, how to use it day to day, and how to configure it if you administer it for your organisation.

You do not need any technical background to read this. If you have never used the platform before, start with [What is the Artific AI Platform?](/en/getting-started/what-is-artific.md) and work through the *Getting started* pages in order. About fifteen minutes of reading will give you the full picture.

## What the platform is for

Artific brings the useful parts of AI into the tools your organisation already works with, under your organisation's own rules. Instead of everyone experimenting with a public chatbot on their own, your organisation gets one place where:

* assistants answer questions using **your** documents and **your** house style,
* repeatable writing and analysis work is packaged into ready-made tools anyone can run,
* incoming e-mail can be answered with a prepared draft that a colleague checks before it goes out,
* and administrators decide who can use what.

## The three modules

| Module | What it is | Who typically uses it |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------ |
| **AI assistants** | Chat-based assistants that answer questions, work with your documents and can take actions on your behalf. | Everyone |
| **AI Toolbox** | A catalogue of ready-made tools for recurring tasks (write, summarise, translate, analyse) where you fill in a short form instead of writing a prompt. | Everyone |
| **Conversation module** | A shared inbox where incoming messages get a prepared reply that a person reviews before sending. | Teams handling customer or citizen contact |

Each module is explained in [The three modules](/en/getting-started/the-three-modules.md).

## Which part of this documentation is for me?

The documentation is split in two, so you only read what applies to you.

{% hint style="info" %}
[**For everyone**](/en/for-everyone/users.md) covers using the platform day to day. No special rights needed. Start here if you were given an account and told to get going.

[**For administrators**](/en/for-administrators/admins.md) covers setting the platform up: assistants, knowledge, users, rights, channels and reporting. Start here if you manage the platform for your organisation.
{% endhint %}

If you are not sure which you are, see [Am I an administrator?](/en/getting-started/am-i-an-administrator.md).

## Getting help

Inside the platform, the **Need help?** button opens a short set of tips written for the screen you are on. It is the fastest answer to "what does this screen do?".

For anything this documentation does not cover (access, plans, hosting, data protection, invoicing, or a feature you would like to see), your **account manager** is the right contact. Users who need a setting changed should ask their own organisation's administrator first; see [Getting help](/en/for-everyone/getting-help.md).
